「Selfie」或稱智慧型手機的自拍，最近剛由英國牛津大學出版社宣布為2013年年度風雲單字。根據牛津的編輯表示，自2012年以來，這個字的使用率飆升至驚人的17000%。牛津字典的總編輯茱蒂佩爾索說：「我們可以見到自拍一字在2013年之間使用率的成長趨勢十分驚人，這幫助鞏固了它當選為風雲單字的位置。」
「Selfie」一字據信起源於澳洲，因為澳洲英語通常會替字加上字尾「-ie」。此外，這個字也衍生出數個新詞彙，像是「belfie」（屁股的照片）、「welfie」（健身的照片）和「drelfie」（喝醉時的自拍）。
每年，這知名字典背後的研究人員都會選擇英語中最能反映當下時代情緒的一個重要且知名的單字或是措辭。之前的年度風雲單字包含了2009年的「unfriend」（解除好友）、2008年的「credit crunch」（信用緊縮）和2007年的「carbon footprint」（碳足跡）。

In honor of our new-found obsession with taking photos of ourselves doing anything and everything, Oxford Dictionaries has crowned selfie the Word of 2013.
Selfie, or the smartphone self-portrait, has just been declared Word of the Year 2013 by Britains Oxford University Press. According to Oxfords editors, use of the word has gone up a whopping 17,000% since 2012. We can see a phenomenal upward trend in the use of selfie in 2013, and this helped to cement its selection as Word of the Year, said Judy Pearsall, editorial director for Oxford Dictionaries.
Selfie is believed to have originated in Australia for Australian English often adds the suffix -ie to words. In addition, the word has given birth to a number of new terms, such as belfie (a photo of someones behind), welfie (a photo of someone working out), and drelfie (a drunken selfie).
Every year, researchers behind the renowned dictionaries choose a prominent word or expression in the English language that best reflects the mood of the times. Previous words of the year include unfriend (2009), credit crunch (2008) and carbon footprint (2007).
