Google and Microsoft have teamed up against internet child porn, with more than 200 employees having spent months trying to rid the internet of child porn related searches.
Googles executive chairman Eric Schmidt was quoted as stating, While society will never wholly eliminate such depravity, we should do everything in our power to protect children from harm.
Thus far, Google has cleaned up over more than 100,000 web queries known to lead to child porn sites and, according to Schmidt, We will soon roll out these changes in 150 more languages, so the impact will be truly global. A further 13,000 search queries related to child porn will be set up so that they lead to warnings about the illegality of child porn and how users can get help.
Various governmental organizations, including the Internet Watch Foundation, cooperated in the movement after an international group related to child abuse recently arrested 348 people around the world. The group contained 40 teachers, 6 law enforcement personnel, 9 pastors or priests, and some doctors and nurses.
Catch-phrases or known terminology related to child porn are also being tracked to cut off access to child pornography sites.
