恐怕十年後台灣將面臨博士畢業生短缺。
根據國科會表示，國內愈來愈少人對研讀博士有興趣。國科會副主委牟中原最近指出，包括台大、成大和清大在內，報考博士入學考的人數持續下滑，今年的數字連2009年的一半都不到。由於出生率低落，十年後博士生很有可能會短缺。
考量到這個潛在的危機，立委蔣乃辛呼籲教育部為各種領域擬出人才培育計畫。同時，教育部政務次長陳德華對此回應說多所大學早已在評估實施人才培育計畫了，而將會根據他們的評估結果實施全面的修正。此外，陳德華希望能夠透過產學合作提升博士畢業生在就業市場的競爭力，因為40%的畢業生最後都在教育界內工作。

It is feared that Taiwan will face a shortage of doctoral graduates in 10 years.
According to the National Science Council, fewer and fewer people in the country are interested in studying doctoral degree programs. Deputy Minister of the council Mou Chung-yuan recently pointed out that the number of applicants sitting for entrance exams for PhD admissions to universities, including National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University and National Tsing Hua University, has continued to decline, with this years number being less than half of that of 2009. On top of the phenomenon of low birth rates, it is likely that there will be a shortage of PhD holders in 10 years.
In light of the potential crisis, legislator Chiang Nai-Shin has called on the Ministry of Education to come up with talent cultivation schemes for various fields. Meanwhile, Ministry of Education Deputy Minister Chen Der-hwa has responded by saying that the talent development programs in place at various universities have already been assessed and that a full-scale revision will be carried out according to their evaluation. In addition, Chen hopes to raise the competiveness of doctoral graduates in the job market through industry-academic cooperation as forty percent of the graduates end up working in the education field.
