(Culture) Social Media Rules The Weekend

What do you plan to do this weekend? You will likely check your Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and other social media to see what is going on. Sites like these have been boons to promoters as a way to showcase their events to millions of party people looking for the hot spots of the week. It also makes inviting your favorite people to a private get-together super easy, as the invitation will show up on their media page, email, and possibly their cell phone. Its just one more way to reach out to all those fun people who will be attending your event this weekend..... Maybe.

Dialogue Example:

(Weekend Plans) Casper and Miley are making plans for the weekend and are looking for things to do. Lets listen to their conversation.

Miley : So, whats going on this weekend?

Casper : Im checking Facebook now. Looks like theres a pool party, a concert, some happy hours, and a few DJs playing.

Miley : Hmm, did you hear about that art and music show downtown?

Casper : No, I didnt. What is it?

Miley : Its a fundraiser for the typhoon victims. Street artists will be showing their work, and Thunderhorse will have a live show.

Casper : Thunderhorse?? I love that band! Why didnt I know about this event

Miley : Well, I think they just advertised in the newspaper. Thats where I read about it.
