大統長基董事長高振利因被指控其公司的摻假油品涉嫌詐欺和違反食品衛生管理法而被判16年徒刑。高振利的公司將銅葉綠素和棉籽油混入油品中的時間長達七年,而棉籽油若是沒有精製過的話則可能有毒。
高振利也被罰了五千萬新台幣,他的律師形容此金額「出乎意料地龐大」,並打算上訴高等法院台中分院。法官考量到高振利最近獲得現金9500萬新台幣,因此立刻羈押他,認為他有潛逃的風險,雖然他的律師堅稱他沒有逃亡的意圖。
高振利對自己傷害大眾的作為沒有流露出任何悔意,他的作為還並引起了全台一系列的食物檢測。高振利也被指控試圖掩飾自己的罪行。
其他員工,溫瑞斌和周昆明也被判了兩年十個月的刑期、緩刑五年。
頂新集團董事長魏應充也因以大統長基提供的油品製造、生產混油而被起訴。
(Business) Chang Chi Chairman Sentenced to 16 Years
Chang Chi Foodstuff Factory Co Chairman Kao Cheng-li has been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for charges of fraud and violation of the Act Governing Food Sanitation in regards to the companys adulterated oil products. For seven years Kaos company had been adulterating the oil with chlorophyllin and cottonseed oil, which, left unrefined, can be toxic.
Kao was also fined NT$50 million, which his lawyers described as surprisingly heavy and plan to appeal with the Taiwan High Courts Taichung branch. Judges took into consideration the fact that Kao had recently received NT$95 million in cash, and, as a result, he was immediately detained and considered a flight risk, although his lawyers insist he had no intention of fleeing.
Kao has not shown any remorse for his actions, which harmed the public and instigated a series of food inspections islandwide. Kao has also been accused of trying to cover up his offenses.
Other employees, Wen Rui-pin and Cho Kin-ming, were sentenced to two years and ten months in prison, with five years probation.
Ting Hsin International Group chairman Wei-Ying-Chun has also been indicted for making and producing adulterated oils provided by Chang Chi Foodstuff Factory Co.
