谷歌台灣資料中心於本月11日舉行落成與啟用典禮。谷歌全球資料中心副總裁Joe Kava、大中華區總經理Scott Beaumont,與彰化縣長卓伯源、經濟部次長梁國新等共同舉行啟動儀式。
谷歌JoeKava表示,未來谷歌對台灣資料中心長期發展計畫的總投資金額,將提高到6億美元,以因應龐大的業務成長量。彰化縣長卓伯源也表示,彰化縣將來會盡力協助谷歌的投資事宜,同時也希望谷歌能多多參與彰濱自由經貿示範區的發展計畫。
谷歌台灣資料中心正式營運後,將與其它國家的資料中心共同肩負起亞太平洋繁重的資訊業務。今後在台灣所有與谷歌相關應用服務,如電子信箱、地圖、搜尋引擎、YouTube等服務效能,也會因此而大幅提升。
(Technology) Google Officially Opens Taiwan Data Center
The completion and opening ceremony for Googles data center in Taiwan was held on the 11th of this month. The companys vice president of data centers Joe Kava and Greater China president Scott Beaumont, as well as County Magistrate of Changhua County Cho Po-yuan and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Liang Kuo-hsin all took part in the event.
According to Kava, Google will increase its investment for the long-term development of the facility to US$600 million in the wake of the substantial increase in the number of internet users. Cho also says Changhua County will do all it can to help Google with its investment project and that he hopes the tech company can increase its participation in the countrys development plan to launch a free trade zone in the Changhua coastal region of western Taiwan.
Once Googles data center in Taiwan begins full operations, it will cooperate with the data centers in other countries to help meet the fast-growing demand for internet usage in Asia-Pacific. In addition, the launch of the facility will also allow the efficiency of all of Googles services in Taiwan, including email, map, search engine and YouTube, to be significantly improved in the future.
