(Culture) Arabians May Have Ridden Horses 9,000 Years Ago

A new discovery could change the way we think about human development.

An important discovery has just been made in Saudi Arabia. Historians have found evidence that people there rode horses about 9,000 years ago. Until now, it was thought that humans first rode the animals in central Asia about 5,500 years ago. Ali al-Ghabban, a Saudi official, said that this changes what we think about early human development.

The evidence was uncovered by people digging at a site in Saudi Arabia. They found arrowheads, tools to grind grain, and other tools to weave materials. A scientific test suggests the objects are 9,000 years old. And another test on human remains found in the area gave the same result.

Historians believe we first came across horses 50,000 years ago. But they say that we didnt ride them until much later. For thousands of years, humans probably kept horses for their meat, skins, and perhaps even milk. Al-Ghabban says that early Arabian societies were very advanced.
